Job Description:
The Test Welder / Fabricator will report to our Product Compliance and Tested Orders Supervisor. They will directly support our Military & ASME Nuclear tested orders by performing conformance testing as dictated by the Military & ASME.
Primary Responsibilities for the Test Welder / Fabricator include and are not limited to:
Responsible for all aspects related to welding of test assemblies for purpose of qualification and conformance testing of ESAB welding consumables for ASME SEC III Nuclear and Critical Navsea Military orders.
Weld assemblies must meet strict ASME and Navsea Military radiographic standards.
Weld assemblies are subjected to mechanical properties testing in accordance with ASME and Navsea Military requirements.
Must be able to perform dimensional and visual weld inspection of weld assemblies.
Accurate recording of weld parameters including amps, volts, travel speed, and heat input is required.
Ability to complete weld passes to narrow heat input ranges is a must.
Prepares own set up of machine, plate and weld specimens for completion of test.
Welds test specimens in flat, vertical and overhead position to determine operating characteristics, chemical composition, radiographic quality, and mechanical properties.
Selects the most effective parameters and technique to be used within the guidelines of the governing specification.
Works with an engineer to evaluate quality of weld and conformance to requirements for customer sales testing, and research.
Notifies supervisor or engineers of electrodes being tested that do not meet the weldability standards of ESAB.
Assist supervision in scheduling flow of work and assurance that assignments are completed.
Other projects as directed by the Test Lab Supervisor.
Adhere to all safe work practices and/or safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5-8 years of job related experience in welding.
Requires excellent skills in all types of welding, knowledge of metals, ability to determine technique and equipment to be used.
Must be able to weld MIG, TIG, and stick in all positions as applicable.
Experience with Oxy-fuel process
Needs to be familiar with our various specifications governing weld metal testing.
Good knowledge of mathematics and /or mechanical aptitude.
Computer use required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, push, pull, bend and walk up and down steps for extended periods.
Manual dexterity to operate machinery/equipment.
Visual acuity to operate and/or inspect products and machinery/equipment.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment (hot and cold conditions).
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.
Must adhere to all site policies and safety standards.

Pay Range:
$51,958.00-$60,265.00
