Position Summary
The First Shift Test Technician is responsible for the functional testing, verification, and debugging of Radio Frequency (RF) modules. This role ensures that all hardware meets stringent performance specifications and quality standards before delivery. The technician will operate complex test equipment, execute detailed test procedures, and perform root-cause analysis on failing components to support the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities
RF Module Testing: Execute comprehensive functional tests on RF modules, including gain, noise figure, P1dB, and phase/amplitude stability, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
Debugging & Troubleshooting: Analyze test failures to identify root causes. Perform component-level debugging and isolation to determine if failures are due to design flaws, manufacturing defects, or test setup errors.
Equipment Operation: Set up and calibrate specialized RF test equipment, including Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers (VNA), Signal Generators, and Power Meters.
Documentation: Accurately record test data, maintain detailed logs of failures, and document corrective actions taken during the debugging process.
Collaboration: Work closely with RF Design Engineers and Production teams to refine test procedures and provide feedback on design-for-testability (DFT) improvements.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all testing is performed in compliance with AS9100 or relevant industry quality standards and internal BAE Systems protocols.
Physical Requirements
Ability to handle small, fragile electronic components and use precision hand tools.
Ability to remain focused during repetitive testing cycles while maintaining high attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in RF/Microwave testing and a strong understanding of RF fundamentals (S-parameters, impedance matching, signal flow).
Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with VNAs and Spectrum Analyzers.
Analytical Skills: Ability to read schematics and technical drawings to perform board-level troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and basic scripting (e.g., Python, LabVIEW).
Familiarity with soldering and rework of small surface-mount (SMD) components.
Prior experience in a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment.
