Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Test Engineer II based at our Counterbalanced Development Center in Portland, Oregon.
We’re looking for an energetic individual who will make a positive impact on the organization and support the validation of our product lines. This role is essential to verifying new products and works closely with teams across design, testing, marketing, manufacturing, and procurement to help deliver high-quality lift trucks that meet customer requirements. What you will do:
Perform hands-on testing of forklift systems and components, including DVP&R, cycle, durability, and validation testing across concept, prototype, and production-intent phases.
Instrument, test, and evaluate batteries both on and off vehicles to support product development and validation activities.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, identify root causes, and partner with Design, Manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve development issues.
Maintain accurate test records, document results, and publish findings through written reports, presentations, and verbal updates.
Coordinate daily work priorities, schedule people and resources, and provide guidance to technicians and mechanics to help ensure testing is completed on time.

What you will need:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
Skills, Experience & Abilities
Experience working with automotive, industrial equipment, electric vehicles, material handling equipment, agricultural equipment, or similar vehicle systems.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, including component drawings, weldments, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
Hands-on experience working in a shop, lab, test, or vehicle development environment.
Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or battery-related systems.
Ability to perform testing, collect data, document findings, and support validation activities.
Comfortable working directly on vehicles, equipment, components, or test systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills, Experience & Abilities
Experience working with mechanical and electrical systems used in electric vehicle drivetrains, including power systems, gearboxes or transmissions, braking systems, electric motors, motor tuning, and vehicle controllers.
Experience using data acquisition and analysis tools such as SOMAT, LabVIEW, Vector CANalyzer, or similar systems.
Knowledge of CAN communication protocols and vehicle network diagnostics.
Practical understanding of validation processes, physical and virtual testing methods, and measurement equipment.
Experience working in a product development or vehicle testing environment.
Ability to analyze measured test data, identify trends, and draw clear conclusions from results.
Experience using product lifecycle management or requirements management tools, such as Teamcenter, Polarion, or similar platforms.
