Job Summary:

Our client in Livonia, MI is looking for a Test Engineer Controls. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

Join Our Client’s dynamic Vehicle Controls team as a Software Validation Engineer and play a critical role in validating the software functionalities of both electric vehicle (EV) and conventional powertrain systems. You’ll have the exciting opportunity to develop advanced verification methods, write automated test scripts, lead test execution, and analyze results to help deliver cutting-edge hybrid engine and transmission control strategies. Working in state-of-the-art Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) environments, you’ll contribute to expanding Our Client’s use of analytical validation techniques in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. What you’ll be able to do: Lead software validation testing, detailed analysis, and insightful reporting for both production and experimental software releases. Design and develop comprehensive Design Verification Methods (DVMs) that support software integration testing and fulfill requirements validation. Implement and maintain automation of DVMs in HIL and SIL setups using ECU.Test scripts. Manage and maintain traceability matrices for feature-specific requirements. Maintain version control and collaboration on test scripts via GitHub. Troubleshoot embedded system faults spanning hardware, software, and test bench operations.

Basics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Matlab/simulink ECU.
  • Test HIL hardware and software. 
  • 5+ years developing embedded control systems and validating software within automotive powertrain domains (EV or ICE). 
  • 5+ years modeling and simulating powertrain components using MATLAB/Simulink. 
  • 5+ years designing and executing software integration test plans and validation strategies. 
  • At least 2 years automating test scripts using ECU.Test in HIL/SIL environments. 
  • Minimum 2 years operating and troubleshooting HIL hardware and associated software platforms. 
  • 3+ years developing software using Python or other programming languages to support automation and data analysis. 
  • Exceptional analytical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and effective verbal and written communication. 
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear technical documentation, analyze complex data, and present actionable insights. 
  • Familiarity with advanced test methodologies and eagerness to learn new validation techniques.
