Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world. We are seeking a full-time Territory Account Manager who will report to the Operations Manager in our Elkridge, MD. The Territory Account Manager will primarily service the Central Virginia Region.

The primary objective of the Territory Account Manager (TTAM) is to strengthen Planet Aid’s position in the area by serving as the primary point of contact for current and potential site hosts in the designated territory. The TTAM will secure existing sites, build and manage relationships, place new sites, and implement strategies on the site and territory level to maximize quality clothing collection. The TTAM will spend the majority of their time implementing customer care, engagement, and retention strategies in the local market so that the key objectives can be reached. The primary method of accomplishing this will be through relationship-building techniques, networking, excellent customer service, strategic placements, and good business practices.


The TTAM is responsible for the growth and maintenance of Planet Aid’s clothing collection in the assigned territory year over year and will work with operations to ensure that sites are positioned and serviced in such a way that sites are retained and produce to maximum potential. Moreover, the TTAM is an ambassador for Planet Aid’s mission and impact in the community.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Maintain and grow Planet Aid’s clothing collection year after year in an assigned territory
  • Represent and sell Planet Aid’s collection model and mission in the community
  • Perform pre-placement site visits for approvals and bin placement recommendations as needed
  • Visit top-producing sites once a month and maintain a good relationship with the site host
  • Visit or contact all site hosts on a quarterly basis
  • Negotiate new site host agreements and renewals
  • Implement improvement plans for under-performing sites
  • Find, maintain, renew, and expand corporate partnerships/multiple site customer accounts
  • Coordinate effective education programs to promote Planet Aid in the community, including clothing and shoe drives
  • Ensure that all sites comply with local permit requirements; if necessary, involve the Permit Compliance Specialist.
  • Engage in action/investigations to protect the current sites from the efforts of competitors
  • Develop lasting relationships with site hosts that will help us in attaining our goals.
  • Identify areas for growth and potentially high-yield sites in the territory
  • Find new sites and engage new site hosts when necessary
  • Generate and follow up on potential leads
  • Complete territory site development and donation optimization reports
  • Investigate and try to retain sites that have requested box removals
  • Track and report all efforts and weekly KPIs using intermediate Excel techniques
  • Preform analysis of the territory performance and opportunities for growth and present findings
  • Assist consumers as needed with lost articles in bins from accidental donations
  • Respond to and resolve customer service issues as needed, including overflows
  • Conduct all sales activities with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, adhering to company policies and industry regulations.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general financial documents, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and hosts. Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Planet Aid’s insurability requirements are required.

Intermediate Excel skills required.

Ability to operate a personal computer and /or tablet and use Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily working in an outside environment. The Territory Manager is constantly driving a car or walking on the streets.
