General Role
Provide technical support in the development and production of military soft goods such as upholstery, cushions and parachutes.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of aircraft and military vehicle seating upholstery and cushions
- Train Production department leads in the operation of these industrial sewing machines: Binding machine, Serger, Walking Foot, Double Needle, Class 7 and Zig Zag
- Establish time standards
- Develop flat patterns and templates for soft goods
- Work with quality to resolve production issues and ensure customer satisfaction
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings as they pertain to sewing
- Develop processes for cutting and bonding non-rigid polyurethane foams
- Program fabric cutters and sewing machines
Required Skills and Education
Required Skills
- 2+ years of manufacturing expierence
- Sewing knowledge
- Military standards for sewing materials
- Manufacturing using contact adhesives
- Programming lasers and CNC fabric cutters using CAD software (i.e. Creo, PTC, AutoCAD)
- Experience building and maintaining tooling
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and adjust machine parameters
- Experience setting up and operating industrial sewing machines
- Reading and interpreting blueprints / engineering drawings
