Job Description
General Role
Provide technical support in the development and production of military soft goods such as upholstery, cushions and parachutes.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of aircraft and military vehicle seating upholstery and cushions
- Train Production department leads in the operation of these industrial sewing machines: Binding machine, Serger, Walking Foot, Double Needle, Class 7 and Zig Zag
- Establish time standards
- Develop flat patterns and templates for soft goods
- Work with quality to resolve production issues and ensure customer satisfaction
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings as they pertain to sewing
- Develop processes for cutting and bonding non-rigid polyurethane foams
- Program fabric cutters and sewing machines

- 10+ years’ sewing experience
- Military standards for sewing materials
- Manufacturing using contact adhesives
- Production line setup and line balancing for workflow processing
- Laser cutting fabrics
- CNC fabric cutters
- Nesting software for soft goods

- Associates Degree
- Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Excel to perform entry-level calculations
- Demonstrated ability in AutoCAD to perform develop patterns and templates
- Experience with LEAN Manufacturing Principles

Typical Education and Experience
Typically a High School Diploma and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
