RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain professionalism and respectful communication with all internal and external customers 
  • Inspect products throughout manufacturing to ensure compliance with specifications, blueprints, codes, and Quality Assurance requirements 
  • Verify traceability, documentation, and materials align with engineering prints 
  • Ensure all measuring and testing equipment is properly calibrated and up to date 
  • Confirm fabrication welds and procedures meet required standards and applicable ASME codes 
  • Ensure fabrication processes are tested and inspected as required and meet company quality standards 
  • Assist the ASME Inspector during in-house code inspections 
  • Perform and document in-process inspections across all departments 
  • Ensure production personnel complete required in-process inspections during fabrication 
  • Conduct random inspections at frequencies determined by Quality Management 
  • Operate measuring and test equipment in accordance with established procedures 
  • Identify process weaknesses and communicate findings to management 
  • Utilize non-conforming product systems to document defects and discrepancies 
  • Assist with corrective actions, including root cause analysis as directed by the Quality Manager 
  • Investigate in-process deficiencies and recommend preventative measures 
  • Support Quality Assurance with special projects and system improvements 
  • Assist with maintaining and performing calibration activities on measuring and test equipment 
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the Quality Assurance Manual, work instructions, and procedures 
  • Maintain working knowledge of ISO quality system requirements applicable to the role 
  • Support staffing and operational needs as determined by the company 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and overall quality system effectiveness

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficient in the use of measurement and testing equipment, including tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, pressure gauges, ultrasonic thickness gauges, mill thickness gauges, pyrometers, and related tools 
  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools, both manual and power-operated 
  • Basic understanding of welding techniques 
  • Familiarity with personal computers and standard software applications 
  • Experience using electronic data collection systems, including barcode scanners 
  • Ability to use computer software for communication and production tracking, including email and shop floor inquiry systems

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior Quality Assurance inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and managing pressure 
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to company policies, procedures, and all safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through proper housekeeping practices 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to train and support other employees 
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship, accuracy, and continuous improvement 
  • Experience working with stainless steel, carbon steel, and welding processes (pressure vessel experience a plus) 
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO, SPC, ASME codes, and inspection/testing methods (e.g., RT, PT, X-ray) preferred 
  • Proficient in the use of measurement and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools 
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate equipment such as cranes, hoists, and forklifts, including completion of required training 
  • Comfortable using computers and shop floor systems for communication, data entry, and production tracking 
  • Ability to support additional duties, projects, and operational needs as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus required 
  • Ability to wear required PPE for the duration of the shift, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear 
  • Ability to perform frequent light to moderate lifting, including moving objects up to 45 pounds (with frequent lifting under 15 pounds)
