The quality assurance technician will have primary responsibility for audit and inspection of in process and completed work. This position will confirm mechanical and electrical and data compliance of assemblies and subsystems. This technician will join our quality team of engineers and inspectors and work under the guidance of our quality engineers. They will work closely with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and other quality personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and finished goods inspection and test operations
- Perform process audits to procedures
- Work to ensure compliance with process and procedures
- Ensure calibrations are up to date on inspection and test equipment
- Record and analyze data
- Maintain Statistical Process Control charts
- Coordinate teams to resolve process and product quality issues
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Perform experiments to aid in evaluation of engineering change proposals
- Assist in inspection of incoming materials
- May be called upon to train others to inspect parts
- Records data and operation completeness in computer systems
- Follows procedures
- Develops inspection steps for new parts
- Performs detailed first article inspection
- Should be able to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) references on mechanical drawings
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills
- Must be able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
- Maintains and grows skills and capabilities and stays current with technology advances
- Must be able to read technical drawings
- Understanding of GD&T
- Must be willing to learn new skills
- Must be detail oriented
- Must be comfortable using technology and computers
- Can utilize inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and gages to perform dimensional inspection
Education and Experience
- Minimum of high school diploma
- 2-year degree in a quality or math field helpful
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in quality inspection of electro-mechanical equipment
- ASQ certifications helpful
- Experience using and programming CMM equipment is helpful.
Work Environment
- Will work in a production environment
- Will work around equipment that uses x-rays
- Ability to stand, stoop, reach, grasp and lift and use mechanical and electrical test and measurement equipment
- Will work with computers to collect, input and record data
- May be required to lift up to 40 pounds, and up to 95 lbs with assistance or equipment
- Will wear required protective equipment, including but not limited to safety shoes and safety glasses and gloves as required by specific tasks
- Will be required to visually inspect assemblies and parts
- Will be required to ware PPE (typically safety shoes, sometimes gloves)
- Requires visual acuity (visual ability to resolve fine detail) and manual dexterity (fine hand and finger movement)
