At the BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) location in Westminster, CO, we develop and manufacture state of the art tactical technologies including low profile antennas, electronic warfare platforms, electro-optical laser imaging, and phased arrays.  Technological developments are driving rapid expansion of our manufacturing capabilities to support customer demands.   If you’d like to join our growing manufacturing operations team in a mission to help the warfighter, this could be an ideal role for you! 

You will get to work with state-of-the-art military, space, and tactical equipment. The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions. Working alongside highly skilled people including planners, engineers, and technicians where there is space to learn and grow. This position is intended to provide cross-functional support across the Manufacturing Process Centers in Westminster.  The primary assignment will be in the Autoclave work center on second shift; however, cross-training and flexing to the other work centers will be a core responsibility of this position. You’ll be an important and integral part of the team driving operational excellence.
 
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.


What You’ll Do:
 

  • Ensure full compliance with industry, environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints to determine bonding requirements.
  • Perform standard autoclave processes such as preparing and bagging assemblies, operating vessels, and unbagging assemblies.
  • Apply professionally accepted manufacturing engineering techniques, practices, and procedures to our environment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective and efficient processes.
  • Utilize innovative and creative problem-solving skills as well as efficient and timely communication.
  • Assist in the maintenance, preventative maintenance, and operation of lab equipment.
  • Initiate emergency procedures in case of power failure; recognize safety hazards, including hazardous materials, and pursue corrective action when necessary.
  • Apply basic computer skills to input and access data via computer interface.
  • Support other Manufacturing Shops and Service Centers including, but not limited to: Paint Shop, Printed Circuit Work Center and Adhesive Cutting Lab.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
 

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.


Working Conditions:
 
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. 

Required Skills and Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience. 
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. 


Typical Education and Experience

Typically a High School Diploma and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
