Job Overview:

Technician Associate – Device Test and Reliability Team

Our Device Test and Reliability Team, located in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking a Technician Associate. This position will provide support to VMRD Engineering by building, testing, and updating devices under development at Zoetis.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in person and via email.

Responsibilities

  • Build prototypes, test stands, wiring harnesses, subassemblies, and tubing assemblies; perform soldering and execute test procedures.

  • Support technicians and engineers with ongoing testing and troubleshooting activities; monitor test stands, collect data, and document observations.

  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and engineering teams.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and otherwise support equipment according to documented procedures.

  • Participate in problem-solving discussions with engineers to identify improvements and implement design revisions.

  • Create documentation and summarize findings related to assigned tasks and projects.

  • Support 3D printing activities and assist with laboratory organization and maintenance as needed.

  • Follow established procedures to complete tasks that may vary in scope, sequence, complexity, and timing. Provide feedback on work instructions and processes, identifying deviations and opportunities for improvement.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree (AS) in Engineering or a related technology field, with 2+ years of experience in an electromechanical device development environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while seeking input or assistance when needed.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) for documentation and data collection.

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, schematics, and CAD drawings.

  • Experience using hand and power tools, including work involving component modification and assembly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with light machining equipment, including drill presses, milling machines, and band saws.

  • Experience using JIRA or similar task-tracking and workflow management tools.

  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.
