Job Overview:

Description

Start Here. Grow With Us.Ever wonder how equipment technicians get their start? Right here. Our most recent Technician Apprentice just earned a promotion to Junior Technician — and that's exactly why this position is open.At Atlantic Lift Systems, a family-owned Virginia business, we don't just hire people to move equipment around. We hire people we can invest in, train up, and promote from within. If you're mechanically curious, take pride in your work, and want a real career path rather than just a paycheck, we want to hear from you. We'll certify and train you to operate a wide range of construction equipment — from compact machines to heavy iron — and give you hands-on exposure to the work our technicians do every day. No prior experience required. We'll teach you everything you need to know. What You'll Do:

  • Check equipment in and out as it arrives from freight trucks, customers, and job sites
  • Stage and prepare units for dispatch so every machine is ready to roll when customers need it
  • Assist our technicians with minor repairs and routine maintenance — a great way to start learning the trade
  • Inspect returned equipment, record damage and hours, and power wash units back to rent-ready condition
  • Fuel equipment properly and make sure every unit leaves with its manual, keys, and ALS decals
  • Manage returned equipment and match check-in/out paperwork with contracts
  • Move equipment around the yard and load/unload trucks using forklifts and other mobile equipment
  • Keep our property looking sharp with light landscaping and grounds upkeep
  • Handle minor janitorial duties to keep the shop and common areas clean and professional
  • Pick up parts, organize the shop, and pitch in wherever the team needs a hand
  • Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols

The Real Opportunity:This is an entry-level role — but it's not a dead-end one. Every day you'll be working shoulder-to-shoulder with experienced technicians, learning how equipment works, what breaks, and how to fix it. You'll pick up diagnostic skills, hydraulics knowledge, and hands-on experience that would cost thousands at a trade school. For the right person, this position is a launchpad into a full technician career with real earning potential.

Requirements

 What We're Looking For:

  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment such as a forklift (we'll train and certify you if needed)
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Takes pride in keeping a clean, organized work area
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn — this matters to us more than experience
  • Rental industry experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen

Why Atlantic Lift Systems:We're a family-owned Virginia business that treats our team like family. We promote from within, invest in training and certifications, and give our people the tools and support they need to build long careers here. If you're ready to show up, work hard, and grow with us, there's a real future for you at ALS.Learn more about us at www.atlanticliftsystems.com.Ready to start your career?
