Position Summary
We are seeking a Technical Services Senior Engineer to join our Elevator Controls team. This is a senior individual contributor (IC) role, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) and escalation resource for complex customer and field issues. The Senior Engineer will support the Technical Support team, collaborate cross-functionally with R&D and Production Engineering, and represent the company at key industry events.
This role reports to the General Manager, Elevator Controls (final reporting to be confirmed) and partners closely with the Technical Support Manager, R&D, and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as SME and escalation resource for complex customer support issues
- Provide hands-on technical support to customers and internal teams
- Collaborate with the Technical Support Manager and team to resolve escalations — without direct supervisory responsibility for the team
- Develop, maintain, and deliver technical training for Technical Support staff and customers
- Create and update product manuals, technical bulletins, and field documentation
- Act as liaison between Technical Support, R&D, and Production Engineering to resolve product issues and drive continuous improvement
- Represent Elevator Controls at key industry conferences and events (NAEC, ECNY, MESA, etc.)
- Provide on-site field support at customer locations as required occasionally on short notice.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve product quality and customer experience
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field), or equivalent practical experience will be considered
- 5+ years of experience in control systems, embedded systems, or electro-mechanical products — elevator industry experience preferred but not required
- Prior experience supporting field service, technical support, or product engineering teams
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems (PLCs, motor drives, safety systems, embedded controllers)
- Familiarity with industry codes and regulatory standards (experience with elevator codes is a plus, but candidates from adjacent regulated industries are encouraged to apply — e.g., automotive, aerospace, robotics, industrial equipment, HVAC, building systems)
- Proven problem-solving and customer interfacing skills — ability to support field issues and coach teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — capable of producing clear technical content and customer-facing material
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common engineering tools
- Willingness to travel on short notice
- Certifications such as QEI or familiarity with ASME A17.1 codes are a plus, but not required
