Qualifications
Summary:
The Entry Level Technical Services Engineer will support all U.S. site operations by addressing technical concerns, resolving recurring issues, and ensuring the smooth functioning of turbine systems. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role encompasses field assistance, technical support, turbine data analysis, training, documentation, and contributing to product improvements, project execution, and service operations.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide real-time technical guidance to technicians for troubleshooting and resolving field issues under supervision.
- Provide technical and operational support for the electrical grid connection of wind turbines (or other generation assets), ensuring compliance with grid codes, safe energization, and reliable integration of the system into the utility network.
- Assist in the design review, structural analysis, and lifecycle assessment of wind turbine blades.
- Provide engineering support for field and factory repairs, including root cause analysis, material compatibility evaluation, and verification of repair quality and performance restoration.
- Deliver in-field technical support for validation processes, third-party remediations, complex troubleshooting, and large corrective repairs (including after-hours support as needed).
- Support technical assistance for SCADA, CMS, EMS, VMP, and other relevant turbine products.
- Review and ensure technical accuracy of work instructions, checklists, and other documentation.
- Support in scheduling, developing, and delivering detailed technical training sessions to address recurring faults and reduce meantime between failures (MTBF).
- Analyze fleet fault trends to identify needs for escalation, troubleshooting documentation, or additional support under supervision.
- Guide proactive inspections to mitigate faults and improve operational reliability.
- Compile and maintain comprehensive troubleshooting guidance.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to identify alternative equipment suppliers for urgent needs.
- Assist the site managers in improving the quality of site management, turbine performance, and technician conduct.
- Assist in training technicians on part failure analysis, repairs, and testing procedures.
- Follow Goldwind America’s HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines of the project safety plan, including safety statistics, accident reporting and investigation, etc. to maintain proper operation.
- Promote and contribute to the company’s ISO program certification. Perform annual quality assurance reviews to ensure lifecycle maintenance and site operations meet Goldwind’s KPI requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics engineering, or a bachelor's degree in another engineering discipline with a minimum of six months of working experience in the wind, solar, or Battery Energy Storage Systems(BESS) industry.
Desired Qualifications/Core Competencies/Skills:
- Excel in operational and analytical problem-solving for new and existing technologies.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to read panel schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system algorithms.
- Work proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Must be a team player and a quick learner.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Good planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with construction environments, including safety protocols and PPE usage.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights exceeding 100 meters (330 feet).
- Capable of lifting and manipulating objects up to 50 pounds.
- Compliance with fall protection and PPE standards (maximum combined weight of 310 pounds).
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
