Located in scenic northwestern Wisconsin just 90 miles from Minneapolis, RLWS offers big city careers in a small-town atmosphere. We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team.
The Technical Sales Engineer performs a variety of inside sales duties including answers incoming telephone sales calls from customers, responding to customer inquiries regarding order status, order verification, order entry, price, delivery queries special quotes, application specifications and assisting them in any customer service situation. Ensures all customer interactions are done on a professional and customer friendly basis. Functions as a member of a team that provides a combined effort in accomplishing customer service obligations.
Additional responsibilities include
- Receives (by telephone, fax, web or email) requests for quotations, orders, and lead times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, enters orders, and relays pertinent order information to customers. Process special quotes.
- Act as the resident expert for particular product line. Product Line Technical Support
- Provides applications specifications to customers. Uses familiarity with all product lines including features/benefits; capabilities/limitations, operation/troubleshooting; theory/application. Ensures applications meet customer expectations and function as planned.
- Participates with Trade Show program. Travels to trade shows as assigned and works booth hours as appropriate. Assist with set-up and tear-down as needed.
- Performs product or technical instruction for VIPS visits. Instructs and co-instructs session topic ensuring that customers are receiving a high-quality level of technical instruction.
- Teaches within the Service School program. Instructs and co-instructs session topics. Works to build Rice Lake Training Services into a program of national prominence where Rice Lake Training Services are regarded as the trainers to the weighing industry.
- Interface with inter-company departments: shipping, accounting, planning, technical support, service, and sales & marketing.
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License.
Education and Experience
- Applicants will have a degree in Technical Field Marketing, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering Technology or related electro-mechanical field, and two (2) or more years sales experience, preferably in weighing or related industry.
- The selected candidate will be familiar with Windows based platforms and connectivity to external devices, SQL integration, wired and wireless networking, advanced PC support and troubleshooting, and have knowledge of PC programming.
- Knowledge of PLC’s, automation controls, and fieldbus protocols is also desired.

Works within the framework of assigned hours in the department to assure a quick and effective response to incoming calls, while being both available and adaptable to varying work situations. Scheduled work hours may be anywhere between the hours of 6:30am to 6:30pm on weekdays and occasional Saturday mornings.
