Job Overview:

Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for electrical and mechanical assembly? At Innovative-IDM, we’re looking for a Technical Production Lead to drive excellence on our manufacturing floor. In this role, you’ll combine technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure our control panels and assemblies are built accurately, safely, and on schedule—all while guiding a talented team toward success. The Lead acts as the key liaison between the Production Manager, Engineering, Customers, and the Production Workforce — translating technical drawings and work orders into efficient, organized production activity.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Be the go-to technical expert for complex builds and troubleshooting.
  • Lead a skilled team in producing high-quality products that power industrial automation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Customers to turn technical drawings into reality.
  • Champion continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

What You’ll Do

1. Production Operations

  • Supervise day-to-day production floor activities for control panel assembly, wiring, mechanical mounting, and testing.
  • Monitor workflow and productivity, addressing bottlenecks, delays, or material shortages promptly.
  • Ensure all builds are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records, timesheets, and job progress updates.

2. Technical Oversight

  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings to support accurate builds.
  • Provide technical assistance to assembly personnel regarding wiring, component layout, and electrical connections.
  • Review completed panels for correctness against drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and internal checklists.
  • Support troubleshooting and testing of electrical control panels, ensuring functionality and adherence to UL 508A, NEC, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality departments to resolve technical issues, design changes, or documentation errors.

3. Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Uphold quality standards through in-process inspections, workmanship audits, and pre-shipment verification.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in wiring methods, workflow layout, and component handling.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action efforts when defects or rework occur.
  • Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve productivity, organization, and safety.

4. Leadership & Team Development

  • Direct and motivate production floor personnel, promoting teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Train and mentor team members in technical assembly, schematic reading, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of production staff as directed by the Production Manager.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • - Work closely with the Production Manager to plan schedules, prioritize builds, and allocate resources effectively.- Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality Control to ensure materials, documentation, and approvals are available as needed.- Communicate project status, production issues, and resource needs to the Production Manager daily.- Serve as a technical point of contact between shop personnel and other departments.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years in control panel assembly or electrical manufacturing; 2+ years in a lead role preferred.

  • Education: Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.

  • Skills:- Strong schematic interpretation and troubleshooting ability
