Manufacturing Technical Manager

Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States

Fully site-based role

Join Lonza's growing Cell Therapy team and play a critical role in bringing innovative therapies to patients worldwide. As a Manufacturing Technical Manager, you will provide technical leadership and manufacturing expertise to support the successful transfer, startup, and execution of Cell Therapy manufacturing processes.

Acting as a key Subject Matter Expert, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, customers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure processes are implemented safely, efficiently, and in compliance with GMP requirements. You will help shape operational readiness, support technology transfers, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and provide oversight during critical manufacturing activities. What you will do

  • Act as the manufacturing Subject Matter Expert for Cell Therapy operations.

  • Provide in-suite oversight during critical manufacturing activities, including harvest, filling, and inspection operations. [

  • Support technology transfers from development into commercial manufacturing.

  • Partner with internal and customer project teams to prepare and execute manufacturing campaigns.

  • Manage manufacturing-related deviations, change controls, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Coordinate training for manufacturing personnel on new equipment, systems, and processes.

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify equipment, materials, and operational requirements for manufacturing success.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering, biotechnology, or related discipline.

  • 5–10 years of experience in biologics, biotechnology, Cell Therapy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process start-up and technology transfer activities.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting process improvements, investigations, and change management activities.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
