Summary
Topcon Positioning Systems is seeking an experienced SAP technical lead to own and drive the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of SAP technical operations across ECC, S/4HANA and other integrated applications. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for a seasoned technical professional who can lead offshore teams while remaining actively engaged in technical problem-solving and delivery.
This role is ideal for a senior technical professional who prefers to stay hands-on while influencing outcomes, improving operational maturity, and leading through expertise rather than hierarchy.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the technical health, stability, and performance of SAP ECC and S/4HANA landscapes
Act as the primary onshore technical owner across SAP Basis, SAP CPI/BTP integrations, and ABAP development
Provide hands-on support for production issues, incidents, and performance challenges
Lead and guide offshore technical teams across Basis, development, and integration, ensuring high-quality delivery and accountability
Review and approve technical designs, integrations, code, transports, and system changes
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to improve system stability and reduce recurring issues
Establish and enforce technical standards across development, integration, and system administration
Define and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics to drive consistent, outcome-based delivery
Oversee SAP Basis operations, including system availability, performance, upgrades, patches, security, and disaster recovery
Govern SAP integrations (CPI/BTP), including monitoring, alerting, error handling, and lifecycle management
Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and SOX/ITGC controls
Drive continuous improvement across monitoring, automation, documentation, and operational maturity
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, hosting teams, and external partners to align technical operations with enterprise objectives
Qualifications:
15+ years of SAP technical experience across ECC and S/4HANA environments
Strong hands-on expertise in SAP Basis, ABAP development, and SAP integrations (CPI/BTP or equivalent)
Proven experience leading technical teams in a global/offshore delivery model (without formal people management)
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance hands-on execution and technical oversight
Experience supporting production environments, incident management, and system reliability
Familiarity with cloud-hosted SAP environments (e.g., AWS) preferred
Solid understanding of IT controls, security practices, and audit requirements
Experience with Jira, SolMan, SailPoint
Base Pay
Expected Base Pay Range: $135,000 to $185,000 Annualized
The base pay range included is a projected hiring range for a position, level and potential work location(s) listed. Topcon provides the compensation range that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this position includes eligibility for certain Bonuses.
