MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MUST meet minimum qualifications to be considered)
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and previous leadership experience or current lateral position or higher. Journeyperson’s card as recognized by the Department of Labor or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Problem-solving and Decision Making (gathering information, weighing, drawing a conclusion). Make sure Work orders are filled out daily. Monitor for repeat issues. Preforms investigation/troubleshooting and recommends countermeasures to the team. Makes daily decisions when relating to “hands on” work. Coordinates/schedules with production, engineering, and other departments to plan and do work. Assign weekend jobs and PMs to your teams and fill out Weekend Work List. Assign daily and weekend work to apprentices. Assign different projects to team members to complete during normal shift.
Foresight – Have the vision to review data for current goals, trends and create plans for future goals that will keep us as leaders in our industry. Be creative using a kaizen mindset. Strive to find options when faced with adversity. Understand the companies/department G&O’s to create tasks for yourself and the associates that will be target based driven. Develop a daily approach to work that is centered on prevention with the mind set of fix it right. Actions need to be safe, quick and of high quality. Recognize when your team needs you to work on break downs with them.
Credibility- Follow policies and guidelines to ensure we are making quality repairs. Conduct job site visits to confirm safety, quality, and resources are correct for the work. Continuously work towards improvement, involving team members for fact gathering and planning. Fact gathering and team work will lead to root cause corrections.
Collaboration – Listen to others to understand their goal. Communicate with team members to align efforts to accomplish a goal. Work with all departments as one team to take advantage of projects to stretch your skills in other areas. Ability to take all parties concerns into consideration for the project to be a success. Daily scheduling from a proactive approach by driving improvement across the department in machine capability and associate skill sets. Work with your peers to have consistent policy interpretation and application. Communicate quickly with the management team on safety and repairs that will cause a production interruption or over 3 hours in repair time.
Technical Skills – Basic math, MS Office, blue print reading, time management, negotiation, robot, mechanical assembly, PLC and delegation skills are needed to be effective. You will use them across departments and with contractors to meet project completion times and budgets.
Team Building Skills – Provide constructive feedback through the PMP process to associates to create a positive outcome in work/conduct behavior during the year. Build a quarterly playbook to achieve department targets. Coach your team to use their skills and talent to achieve KPI’s. Build trust across the team by having a positive behavior in meetings and projects. Resolve associate conflict by listening and understanding the problem before making decisions. Hold team meetings across the shifts to share goals, targets, general company news and to receive feedback.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage day-to-day activities, help control of department budgets, G&O’s and implement necessary countermeasures. Investigate and resolve problems relating to equipment operating conditions. Help evaluate staffs strengths and weaknesses and ensure appropriate training is planned to enhance skills. Understand IATF, TS16949 & ISO14001 requirements to ensure the team is in full compliance. Give support to the Team, Engineers & support groups. Communicate with team all communications (daily review of basic safety rules). Follow up on calls on the floor (safety, quality of repair, spare part needs, expedite parts). Set up training (OJT / classes). Actively seeks out improvements, Kaizen opportunities and repairs. Monitors area for unsafe conditions and proper use of tools. Ensures 5-S. Delegate, monitor, and follow-up appropriately. Review Nexus for work orders and PM’s. Follow up confirm they are completed every day. Approve Work Orders for your responsible shift while checking for accuracy and detailed descriptions. Order parts and materials. Take on contractor work if possible. Crib stock items needed, keeping in mind frequency of use and lead times. Help orchestrate outside vendors. Address associate relations issues (e.g. FMLA, attendance, performance).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job you may be asked to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift or carry component parts weighing up to 35 pounds-lifting parts in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist, use hands to handle or feel parts, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, work on the production floor as needed, and frequent phone use and typing.
