nVenia is hiring for a skilled Team Lead to direct the daily activities of machining personnel in our CNC and manual mill and lathe cells. The ideal candidate will ensure work orders are on schedule and within budget, maintain and improve machining operations and improve production processes.  This role will be hands on in machining, provide training to team members, and promote a safe working environment.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and direct the daily workflow and overall activities of machining personnel in assigned cell.  Conduct daily Shift Start Meetings to provide direction, review previous day results and communicate essential information including safety talks and quality alerts.
  • Act as the technical resource and subject matter expert to cell personnel to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Manage for daily improvement:
  • Cell Audits: SW (standard work), 5S, Safety, Hour by Hour and Quality.
  • Ownership of SQDC.
  • Root Cause Counter Measure/Action (RCCM(A).
  • Ensure schedule attainment, budget efficiency and indirect labor goals are met.
  • Establish and adjust production processes and procedures to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Keep abreast of daily progress, developments, and pending problems, communicate potential issues to stakeholders, supervisor, and Director of Operations. 
  • Maintain and promote a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.  Address safety concerns and issues.
  • Continually evaluate, develop, and improve machining and/or fabrication methods.
  • Troubleshoot and work with other departments in the daily problem-solving process.
  • Take a leadership role in problem solving activities and initiate corrective actions of problems and deficiencies.
  • Responsible for training of team members, including cross-training and new employee on-boarding to ensure proper training of machining skills, manufacturing processes, quality, and safety. 
  • In ERP system, review and approve time and route corrections.
  • Assist leaders with recruitment and performance management.
  • Encourage an environment based on teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Hands on machining and fabrication of components.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 7+ years of production machining and/or fabrication in a low volume, high mix environment.
  • Previous experience in a lead / supervisory role.
  • Experience in Plant Safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to read and build to blueprints and machine/fabricate to prints.
