**Position Overview

A tire manufacturer
is seeking a dependable, results-driven
2nd Shift Team Lead
to join our manufacturing facility in Elkhart, Indiana. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily shop-floor operations and managing a team of approximately 20 production employees. The ideal candidate thrives in an active environment, spends 90% of their day directly on the plant floor, drives production momentum, and delivers concrete results.
**Work Schedule & Hours
**
**Standard Schedule:
** Monday – Thursday (4 × 10-hour shifts) plus Friday (8-hour shift).
**Shift Hours:
** 2:10 PM – 12:40 AM
**Weekly Hours:
**
Off-Peak Volume: 40–45 hours per week
Peak / Busy Season Volume: 50–55 hours per week (overtime required as needed)
**Key Responsibilities
**
**Direct Supervision:
** Lead, direct, and support a crew of approximately 20 production staff members during the 2nd shift.
**Shop-Floor Presence:
** Maintain an active presence on the shop floor for 90% of the shift to ensure workflow efficiency, address real-time challenges, and keep team members focused on daily goals.
**Production Drive:
** Keep team members on task, minimize downtime, drive line speed, and consistently meet shift production targets ("get stuff done").
**Process & Safety Enforcement:
** Ensure all team members adhere to company safety protocols, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
**Communication & Handoffs:
** Serve as the main point of contact for second-shift operations. Facilitate clear shift handoffs with first-shift and plant management regarding production output, equipment issues, and staffing needs.
**Problem Solving:
** Identify operational bottlenecks, workflow disruptions, or product defects early and implement immediate corrective actions.
**Qualifications & Requirements
**
Proven experience in a lead, supervisory, or senior role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Action-oriented leadership style with strong accountability and execution skills.
Ability to stand, walk, and stay active on the production floor for 90% of a 10-to-12-hour shift.
Ability and willingness to work flexible overtime hours up to 50–55 hours/week during high-volume periods.
Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate, hold accountable, and direct a diverse team of workers.
Basic understanding of production tracking, shop floor safety, and lean manufacturing practices.
You should be proficient in:
