What you will do:
The TC Food Service Assistant Manager is a member of the Tillamook Creamery Leadership team and reports directly to the TC Food & Beverage Manager (Café Department). The TC Food Service Assistant Manager will work collaboratively with the TC Food & Beverage Manager (Café) & TC Food & Beverage Manager (Ice Cream) support all aspects of operations for the Ice Cream, Cafe and Culinary departments to achieve outlined business success. This role is responsible for driving business strategies to enable current goals and maximize profit both short and long term.
Additionally, this role focuses on optimizing team focus and drives execution against key operational goals. The TC Food Service Assistant Manager models and reinforces Tillamook’s Shared Values, performance expectations, and behavior standards.
Here’s a day in the life:
Ensure all company standards for quality, customer service, health and safety are met within the core values of Good Stewards, Uncompromising Quality, One Team, Play to Win, and Genuinely Care.
Be adaptive to business needs by being flexible with work duties and working cross functionally across the business.
Take on responsibilities and challenges, establish and achieve goals, and learn and master job duties.
Assign tasks and set goals for the day; ensure the team stays on task.
Address and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
Manage daily operations of the ice cream, café and culinary departments, ensuring adequate coverage to serve guests.
Act as cashier, stocker, custodial, etc. as needed.
Train and motivate staff to provide consistent guest experience through friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service utilizing TCCA’s Creamery guidelines. Engage team to drive business to foster a culture that is customer and service centric.
In partnership with the Cafe and Ice Cream Managers, identify associates with potential for growth and promotion to new assignments.
Partnering with People & Culture representatives, own employee fact finding sessions in a fair and consistent manner, with strong, solution-oriented results.
Work collaboratively, celebrate employee wins, provide regular recognition, and encourage recognition of success by all team members.
Confront and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner.

Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, management, vendors, and the general public.
Ensure signage & menus are accurate and updated, recipe specifications are correct, and menu costs are accurate. Ensure systems are in place and utilized to manage COGs.
Ensure staff is accountable for accurate cash management procedures.
Be present for and participate in inventories.
Understand and ensure legal requirements are met by employees regarding food handlers’ cards, OLCC requirements, etc.
Build professional and respectful working relationships with all internal and external vendors, customers, coworkers, and management.
Work closely with employees to provide real time, candid, and honest feedback to ensure their success.
Partner with Creamery management regarding trends or challenges as appropriate.
Take an active role in improving processes by providing feedback and suggestions to management.
Demonstrate effective communication with your team and managers
Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Other duties as needed and assigned.
Supports the Creamery as a people leader with managing colleagues including permanent and seasonal hires.
FIFO of perishable products when storing and organizing storage/freezer/cooler areas, in/out receiving descriptions matching invoices, auditing of inventory on hand, and other duties as needed and assigned.
Work with L&D / P&C teams for recruiting, hiring and training new hires.
Responsibilities also include supporting colleagues with uniforms, meals, property tours, orientation training, and basic employee onboarding with systems like 7Shifts and UKG
Assist in documentation of violations to the time and attendance policy or other TCCA policies as outlined in the employee handbook or training manuals.
Ensure staff is a positive representation of the Creamery by following Creamery policies, health and safety practices, and all service standards associated with department/position.
Enforce company policies and guidelines, including ensuring all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed. This can include, but not limited to, OSHA/Safety documentation, OLCC permits, Food Handling permits, equipment usage certifications, attendance policy records.
Service events off the TC campus utilizing the catering van. Frequency average around 20 yearly events.
Exercise independent judgement, critical thinking skills, and confidentiality in all matters as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED
Some post-secondary culinary or restaurant management training preferred
Three years of banquet or food service experience required
Two years of food service supervision or management experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage employees of all backgrounds, skillsets and engage for career growth
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and execute strategies.
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and time management
Possess the ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated intermediate computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel, SharePoint, and POS systems
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, climb daily
Food Handler’s Card certification, optional
