WHAT YOU GET TO DO
The Tax Specialist will work to accomplish the tasks below:
- Research tax laws
- Gather information and explain options for best practice to clients
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax compliance
- Prepare federal and state income tax
- Ensure that tax returns are filed in accordance with tax authorities
- Assist in IRS and state audits and act as a liaison between government auditors, tax consultants, and AP/AR Managers
- Work with different state agencies to set up accounts
- Work as a liaison with Sales department and tax consultants for wording of how projects are taxed
- Work as a liaison with AR Manager and tax consultants to ensure invoices are taxed and coded correctly
- Respond to various tax notices from states
- Work on various tax projects that arise (this is mainly to encompass projects we need to start now and could come up in the future)
WHAT YOU HAVE
- Degree in accounting, finance, or similar
- 3-7 years proven experience as a tax accountant, tax analyst, or similar
- Strong knowledge of accounting laws and procedures
- Computer literacy in accounting software
- Good numerical skills
- A keen eye for details
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Sales tax systems knowledge, specifically Avalara
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Overtime, if required by work
- Professional office etiquette is required at all times.
- Physical requirement: Sitting, stooping, bending, visual acuity, finger dexterity, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds
