Description of Duties: Shall have knowledge of tactical and commercial satellite communication equipment.
Shall know how to operate Satellite Modems, Redundancy Switch, associated cables, and interconnects;
-Up Converters, Redundancy Switch; Down Converters, High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Low Noise Block (LNB); Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections; Intermediate Frequency (IF) cable and connections; Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects; Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS); Generator (if applicable). Shall have technical documentation skills. Shall have knowledge of how to use Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) equipment; power meter, spectrum analyzer, firebird, or volt meter.
Shall have an understanding of LAN/WAN communications, network hardware such as Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, bridges, gateways and firewalls.
Shall have an understanding of routing protocols such as Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
Shall have an understanding and practical experience with technologies like Multi-Schedule Private Line Service Tariffs (MPLS), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), MLA Virtual Private Network (VPNs) and Traffic Engineering Duties involve among others, management of local and wide area network, projects, and installation of new devices, system and on-going maintenance of infrastructure.
Shall have experience with Wireless, Riverbed, and Call Manager Express
Sample Work to be Performed: The Contractor shall support the day-to-day end users of tactical satellite systems to include but not limited to SNAP
Education: Bachelors Degree
Degree Preferred: Engineering
Minimum years of Experience: Shall have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in support of installations, repair, troubleshooting or maintenance of communications electronic systems or equipment.
Shall have a minimum of four (4) years experience operating in a tactical environment operating/maintaining antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, Fiber optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (satellite modems).
Shall have experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures and commercial TDMA/DAMA modems required.
Substitutions: 4 - 6 years military experience in related field with advanced commercial certification instead of education.
