Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying maintenance, repair, manufacturing, and logistics activities to ensure compliance with applicable technical, safety, and quality standards. This role evaluates work performed on TACOM‑managed systems and equipment, identifies deficiencies, and ensures corrective actions are completed before acceptance. The inspector will review a combination of mechanical, electrical, structural, and/or material handling work as applicable.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of maintenance, repair, fabrication, and logistics activities
• Verify compliance with Army Technical Manuals (TMs), specifications, and contractual requirements
• Identify deficiencies, discrepancies, or non‑conforming work and document findings
• Ensure corrective actions and rework are completed to required standards
• Perform in‑process and final inspections to validate quality and readiness
• Review and verify accuracy of maintenance records, work orders, and documentation
• Maintain inspection reports, logs, and quality records
• Support internal audits, external inspections, and government reviews
• Enforce compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Coordinate with supervisors, technicians, and program management to resolve quality issues
• Assist in development and implementation of quality procedures and improvements
• Provide feedback and guidance to personnel to ensure adherence to quality requirements

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
• Typically 3-5 years of experience in quality control, inspection, maintenance, or a related technical field
• Working knowledge of inspection processes, quality standards, and documentation practices
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non‑conformances
• Experience maintaining accurate inspection records and reports
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical judgments
• Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
• Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
• Familiarity with Army quality control procedures, TMs, and readiness standards
• Experience inspecting vehicle maintenance, equipment repair, or logistics operations
• Formal training or certification in quality assurance, inspection, or related discipline
• Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information

This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
