Job Title: Systems/Network Engineer

Job Summary:

KBR is seeking a Systems/Network Engineer to join our team at Peterson SFB, in Colorado Springs, CO and supports the HQ USSF CFC S739 virtual analysis enclaves. This position will perform duties fulfilling cyber systems administration tasks on the networks S739 Advance Virtual Analysis Capability (AVAC) networks. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs and controls the architecture and engineering of all AVAC solutions to meet the needs of the analysts operating in the AVAC networks as well as solutioning how to meet future needs, security functionality and engineering compliance.
  • Documents the protection needs (i.e., security controls) for the information system(s) and network(s) and document appropriately.
  • Perform security reviews, identify gaps in network security architecture to communicate to cyber lead
  • Perform software and hardware configuration in the environments in accordance with technical security controls (STIG, patching, vulnerability mitigation guidance, etc.)
  • Integrate and communicate with other system admins to maintain control the design of all AVAC enclaves to ensure baselines and any changes to the baselines or overall architecture.
  • Integrate with team to define and maintain configuration management release for software, firmware, vulnerability mitigation/remediation and hardware.
  • Manages network servers and technology tools, upgrade deployments, and provides overall analyst support.
  • Apply network security architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).
  • Tests of software, hardware, design control and review.
  • Upgrade and update systems with new releases and models
  • Maintain network documentation for system administration and configuration processes and procedures
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Assist in improving and automating existing vulnerability management lifecycle including but not limited, data ingestion & normalization, compliance metrics and detections on assets
  • Assist in partnering with tools and technology teams to troubleshoot, develop, select, implement, and automate appropriate security solutions to keep system data protected from internal and external threat
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any procedures and/or processes related to these systems
  • Review network-based scans to identify possible network security attacks and host-based scans to identify vulnerabilities in workstations, servers and other network hosts determining critical security flaws required to be mitigated and provide mitigation or remediation plans.
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices
  • Troubleshoot system/ network issues and provide support related to software and hardware
  • Submit and track helpdesk tickets and resolve hardware and software problems involving the applications, operating system, hardware, the communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof
  • Leading a team to accomplish these types of tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • DoDI 8140 certification (Security+ or higher required)
  • 6-8 years of system/network administration experience
  • Knowledge of system/network administration and cyber engineering principles, methods, and techniques
  • Understanding of system design virtual machines, network routing, and overall security configuration implementation preferred
  • The position requires a working knowledge of Windows, Red Hat, and other IT/Cyber technologies, NIST standards and DISA STIG governance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline preferred
  • Experience with multiple operating systems networking, storage management and configuration patch management
  • Knowledge of data management and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms (Win, RHEL, MAC OS),
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Network design and upgrade implementation
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Experience leading a small team performing technical tasks

Compensation:

  • For Colorado only, the salary range for this position is approximately $130,000 - $150,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Other Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
