Systems Administrator
This role is a new part of the Field Engineering team in NOV Digital Solutions which supports emerging technologies like Max Edge and existing products like RigSense.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure for optimal performance.
- Actively participate in application design reviews, ensuring potential issues are brought to the attention of the design team as soon as possible.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of systems configurations and processes.
- Collaborate internally to plan for future growth and infrastructure needs.
- Manage software & configuration files associated to our products to create and maintain standardized deployment processes.
- Create plans for testing application and image changes in lab and production environments.
- Ability to provide onsite and remote support when needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Perform system backups and recovery
Minimum Qualifications & Expectations:
- Prior experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Familiarity with virtualization (Proxmox, VMware, and/or Hyper-V)
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
- Ability to implement, document, and troubleshoot OT communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, Profibus, etc.)
- 3+ years of field experience in energy, data aggregation, instrumentation, and/or communication industries.
