The Assembler will be responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies or sub-assemblies used for production of ADTRAN’s products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine and/or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing, component installation, and fitting on assembly units.
- Assemble components, boards, and housings based on diagram, photos, and written instructions.
- Perform tests on boards to ensure functional operation.
- Work on “semi-routine” assignments and recognize/indicate where any deviation from accepted practices is required.
- Adhere to general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments.
- Check and inspect products to ensure Q50 and IPC-A-610 quality standards are met.
- Make process, part, and/or assembly change recommendations to technical instructions based on assembly needs.
- May be utilized to work in other areas as production level warrants.
- Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements.
- 2-5 years prior experience .
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to operate a manual pallet jack on daily basis.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- No travel is expected in this position.
- Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior manufacturing environment experience.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience.
Essential Physical and Mental Qualifications:
- The employee is regularly required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement.
- The employee must walk and stand for extended periods of time, be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis and lift materials greater than 35 pounds with assistance. Manual dexterity with hands and fingers is necessary to make quick, precisely coordinated movements to grasp, manipulate, and assemble very small objects on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to frequently extend or reach with hands and arms while performing routine job functions including scanners, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
- The job will require occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- The job will require the employee to possess the ability to see and interpret instructions, warnings, safety hazards, colors, and procedures, the ability to hear alarms and pages, to listen for safety hazards, to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences in English, and the ability to communicate with peers through spoken words in English to complete job requirements.
- Employees may be exposed to solder fumes. Eye protection, respirators, and safety clothing will be required and supplied by the company in instances where there is exposure to safety hazards.
