What we need:
The Sustainability Engineer is an established performer who is responsible for integrating sustainable practices and principles into various engineering projects and processes. This role focuses on promoting environmental stewardship, resource efficiency, and social responsibility within an organization.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive Sustainability initiatives, reduce environmental impact, and enhance overall corporate sustainability performance.
- Develop and implement Sustainability strategies aligned with the organization's goals and values.
- Identify opportunities to integrate sustainable practices across engineering projects and operations.
- Conduct assessments of the environmental impact of projects, processes, and products.
- Identify ways to minimize energy consumption, waste generation, and carbon emissions.
- Analyze resource consumption patterns and recommend improvements for efficiency.
- Explore renewable energy sources and other sustainable alternatives to traditional resources.
- Perform life cycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impacts of products throughout their entire life cycle.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other teams as needed.
- Work on projects and assignments as part of a large work team.
- Perform accurate analyses, conduct research, and draw meaningful conclusions about potential job/work-area impacts.
- Effectively apply functional, process, and procedural or technical knowledge to address business challenges.
- Perform other duties as needed.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Six-Sigma and/or Lean certifications are desirable.
- Relevant certification (e.g., LEED) is a plus.
What you’re good at:
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles as well as industry practices and standards.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
What else?
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high-traffic production floor.
- Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time.
- Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required.
- Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled facilities.
- The work environment may be a noisy, high-traffic manufacturing production floor.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
