High-Precision Industrial Surface Grinder Operator

Seeking an experienced Industrial Surface Grinder Operator with hands-on experience operating large-capacity surface grinding machines. The ideal candidate has experience grinding large industrial components, heavy steel parts, machine ways, and precision surfaces while maintaining tight dimensional and flatness tolerances.

Required / Preferred Experience

Hands-on experience setting up and operating industrial surface grinding machines.
Experience grinding large, heavy industrial components and steel workpieces.
Ability to operate large horizontal-spindle surface grinders and/or rotary surface grinders.
Experience with large magnetic tables, magnetic chucks, and securing heavy workpieces.
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
Understanding of dimensional tolerances, flatness, parallelism, and precision grinding requirements.
Ability to inspect finished work using precision measuring instruments, including large micrometers, dial indicators, and precision levels.
Experience dressing grinding wheels and adjusting grinding operations to achieve required specifications.
Ability to perform machine setups, make adjustments, and inspect finished parts independently.
Overhead crane experience for handling and positioning large industrial workpieces is highly desirable.

Preferred Machine Experience

Candidates with experience operating the following machines are especially encouraged:

Mattison large-capacity surface grinders.
Blanchard rotary surface grinders.
Danobat industrial grinding machines.
Thompson surface grinders.
Other large-capacity horizontal-spindle or rotary surface grinding machines.

Experience operating 60-inch, 84-inch, 100-inch, or similarly large-capacity grinders is a major plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Looking for a skilled, self-sufficient grinder operator who can independently set up and operate large industrial grinding equipment, work with heavy steel components, interpret complex blueprints, and hold extremely tight tolerances.

Candidates with experience grinding machine ways, large machine bases, industrial plates, and other oversized components are strongly preferred.

Important: Prioritize candidates with large industrial surface grinding experience rather than candidates whose background is limited to OD/ID cylindrical grinding, small-part production grinding, or basic bench grinding.
