Position Overview

A manufacturing facility is seeking a skilled Precision Grinding Technician to perform high‑accuracy surface, OD, and ID grinding operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to hold extremely tight tolerances, and proficiency with precision measuring equipment. The ideal candidate has experience in advanced machining environments and is comfortable working independently on complex setups.

Major Responsibilities

• **Precision Machine Setup

  ** — Perform complete setups and operate surface, OD, and ID grinding equipment to produce high‑accuracy components.

• **Grinding Operations

  ** — Execute precision grinding processes while consistently maintaining tolerances as tight as ±0.0001".

• **Blueprint & GD%26T Interpretation

  ** — Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.

• **Tooling & Workholding

  ** — Select, install, dress, and maintain grinding wheels, fixtures, tooling, and workholding for each setup.

• **Dimensional Accuracy

  ** — Verify setups and make adjustments to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.

• **Quality Inspection

  ** — Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, bore gauges, optical comparators, and related tools.

• **Documentation

  ** — Complete inspection records and quality documentation accurately.

• **Troubleshooting

  ** — Identify machining or quality issues and make necessary process adjustments.

• **Machine Care

  ** — Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic machine care to ensure equipment reliability.

• **Workplace Organization

  ** — Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S and safety standards.

• **Continuous Improvement

  ** — Support improvement initiatives and assist with special projects or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in machining or grinding operations, including multi‑axis mills, lathes, surface/OD/ID grinding, wire EDM, or similar processes.

• Ability to consistently hold tolerances of ±0.0001" and interpret detailed customer specifications.

• Experience with precision inspection equipment and digital measuring tools preferred.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools and precision instruments.

• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and 5S principles.
