The Role:
The Global Commodity Lead (GCL) provides strategic, proactive, and systemic leadership across overhead systems, serving as the technical interface between Purchasing, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and the supply base. This role drives sourcing alignment, product and process readiness, and global quality strategy across the full commodity lifecycle.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead global strategy and technical alignment for overhead systems across engineering, purchasing, and suppliers
  • Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation, advancing key activities earlier in the GVDP timeline
  • Establish and continuously improve supplier quality requirements, standards, and corporate guidelines
  • Lead global read-across (GRA) and cross-program learning to prevent recurrence and improve robustness
  • Enable effective supplier industrialization, launch readiness, and long-term process capability
  • Drive enterprise-level improvements in warranty, SPPS, and manufacturing cost through structured initiatives
  • Promote scalable continuous improvement frameworks across regions and the supply base systemically

Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering preferred); equivalent experience considered
  • 5+ years in engineering, manufacturing, or quality leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, processes, and product development
  • Proficiency in GD&T, validation methods, and statistical problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, global teams and manage complex initiatives
  • Strong communication, influence, and technical judgment
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business
    OEM or Tier 1 automotive experience
    Experience with APQP/PPAP, DFSS, DMAIC, and Lean systems
    Direct experience with overhead systems
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
