JOB TITLE: Supplier Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Texas
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Works closely with peers to successfully implement and deploy customer and internal quality objectives effectively and efficiently.
- Identifies and evaluates suppliers as needed to supply components and materials to manufacturing facilities.
- Provides the same services for directed source components and materials at company’s Tier 2 locations.
- Coordinates quality control objectives with production procedures in cooperation with managers to maximize quality, reliability, and minimize costs.
- Actively lead and participates in teams in technical root cause investigations and resolutions for supplier performance issues.
- Performs verification and adjustments to APQP/PPAP documentation and practices (e.g. DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, Work Instruction, etc.).
- Heavy Interaction with customers regarding quality and design issues to reach successful resolutions.
- Drives continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives to meet internal and customer expectations with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to ISO/IATF (16949) quality systems.
- Submissions, customer visits, supplier management activities (including visits), training of skilled personnel, and data analysis to improve quality functions.
- Plans, and organizes training activities related to quality systems and continuous improvement.
- Understands and performs ERP transactions related to supplied material, including supplier notification of issues, communication and management of quality and delivery performance, as it relates to the supplier.
- Develops Supplier technical capabilities as required to assure product cost and quality integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in supplier quality management or related fields.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in automotive supplier quality management.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in supplier problem solving management.
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or willingness to obtain certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with ISO/TS standards and supplier quality auditing.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in automotive APQP principles and procedures.
- Ability to interact with suppliers, customers and internal management with a high level of effectiveness.
- SPC software experience (JMP, Minitab, etc.).
- Experience working with manufacturing MRP/ERP systems.
- Advanced PC application skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong problem solving and communication (verbal & writing) skills; ability to interface effectively with personnel at all levels, including external customers
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized.
- Hands-on experience with ISO/IATF (16949) quality systems.
- Six Sigma training highly preferred.
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or willingness to obtain certification is preferred.
