Job Overview:

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Manages supplier quality performance independently. Leads problem-solving efforts, conducts audits, and drives continuous improvement with suppliers.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure suppliers perform thorough root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action processes on high impact product quality issue and warranty concerns.
  • Ensure suppliers complete PPAP and APQP documentation accurately for new product development and design/process changes.
  • Conduct supplier audits and process reviews.
  • Work closely with suppliers to drive robust improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product launches & VAVE projects..
  • Travel to supplier/customer sites for development and issue resolution.
  • Support plant quality teams during product launches and issue resolution
  • < 35% travel

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical engineering or equivalent.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer Preferred
  • Six Sigma certification (Any Level) Preferred

 

Experience:  

  • 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge and experience in problem-solving tools (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone), acting as a leader and as a team member 
  • Knowledge and experience with AIAG APQP Process and AIAG Core Tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with internal QMS auditing.
  • Strong knowledge in any of the following areas: Metal-Mechanical, Plastic, Electrical-Software.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T drawings.
  • Ability to use basic Metrology equipment and hand tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database software.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Understanding of tolerance stack-up analysis and layout.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Able to make timely decisions in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Leadership, motivational, and project management skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout the day.
  • Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds and of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment.
