Shipping Supervisor


Position Summary

Sherwood Bedding is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations at our Pennsylvania manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for coordinating outbound shipments, supervising shipping staff, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining on-time delivery to customers and distribution centers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or high-volume distribution environment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage shipping processes efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily shipping activities for finished mattress products.

  • Lead and manage shipping team members including scheduling, training, and performance management.

  • Ensure all orders are picked, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.

  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, and transportation teams to meet shipping deadlines.

  • Verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping manifests.

  • Monitor inventory flow and staging areas to maintain organized and efficient operations.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and DOT regulations.

  • Identify and implement improvements to increase shipping efficiency and reduce errors.

  • Track shipping performance metrics and report results to operations leadership.

  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or delays in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics supervision within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing teams in a high-volume production or distribution setting.

  • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, freight carriers, and documentation.

  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in bedding, furniture, or large product manufacturing.

  • Forklift certification or experience working in forklift environments.

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.

  • Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
