Description
Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise the Quality Control Testing Lab and provide support to the Product Development and Sales Teams. The role entails continuous monitoring of daily lab work to ensure compliance with company, plant, and departmental guidelines and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Run off quality report for L-4 board/change rolls for vendor chargebacks.
- Review downgraded/held rolls for defect reasons and vendor chargebacks.
- Run Q3 and replacement report.
- Review quality alerts from the day before.
- Place pallets on hold from extrusion
- Test cones from tufting
- Assist customer service and sales with orders, replacements, and picture request.
- Coordinate with outside coaters (Global, UTT, TRCC) and ForeverLawn with runs and support.
- Support department managers, supervisors, and techs with issues/questions.

- Review, approve, or deny yarn merge request.
- Contact vendors regarding quality/issues.
- Develop and implement quality management systems (QMS) and procedures.
- Lead and mentor quality techs.
- Train employees on quality standards and best practices.
- Prepare reports on quality performance and improvements. Report on waste, remakes, and training hours.
1. Quality Planning & Standards
- Develop product quality standards for turf materials.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards.
2. Raw Material and Supplier Quality
- Evaluate and approve synthetic yarns, backing materials, adhesives, and infills.
- Audit and monitor suppliers for consistent quality and compliance with specs.
3. Production Oversight and Lab Testing
- Monitor extrusion, tufting, coating, and backing processes.
- Implement in-process checks (e.g., stitch rate, pile height, tuft bind strength).
- Inspect the final product roll for uniformity, defects, and correct labeling.
- Maintain documentation
4. Customer Complaint Handling
- Investigate and resolve complaints about turf defects (e.g., fading, matting, seams separating).
- Document issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
5. Training and Continuous Improvement
- Train production and quality teams on quality expectations
6. Documenting and Reporting
- Maintain records of inspection reports, test results, quality issues, rework, remakes, waste, and training hours.

Qualifications
- Education: HS diploma/GED required
- Experience: 5+ years’ experience with lab skills and techniques
- Courses/Certifications/Training: Substantial experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control role
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
