Job Overview:

Production Supervisor

We are a well-established manufacturer with over 68 years of providing quality products to our clients. Phillips Manufacturing is the one-stop shop for drywall finishing accessories, lath, stucco accessories, metal channels, interior framing, and fire-rated assemblies with facilities around the country. 

The Production Supervisor will supervise and direct plant personnel to maintain an efficient, productive, and safe work environment while ensuring the quality of product fabricated meets company/customer guidelines. 


Essential Functions: 

-Supervise and direct plant personnel to maintain an efficient, productive, and safe work environment.

-Continually monitor production to ensure quality of product while working with Production Manager and/or quality department to assure quality expectations are achieved.

-Continually monitor equipment line rates to ensure production goals are met, ensure production boards are being used properly and daily. 

-Ensure operators know and understand their daily production responsibilities and goals.

-Conduct employee training in equipment operations and safety procedures and assign employee training to experienced workers.

-Work with product line operators in the adjustment of machines within the parameters of the collective bargaining agreement.  

-Continually seek Lean methods to reduce cost by improving productivity, reducing materials usage, scrap, etc.

-Review with scheduling outgoing load schedules; assign personnel to product lines and ensure product is ready and available.

-Coordinate with maintenance for the repair of, or changeover of, equipment.

-Abide by, maintain, monitor, and enforce plant rules and regulations, including all safety regulations.

-Help create a visual workplace and repeatable processes by using Lean manufacturing principles.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

-Have a thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.

-Good organizational and time management skills.

-Good analytical/mathematical skills.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.

-Ability to work with and/or without close supervision.

-Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and requirements.

-Ability to work with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.

-Ability to make fair and consistent judgments and decisions.

-Ability to operate a tape measure, micrometer, ruler, and other precision measuring equipment.

-Ability to operate a computer system, telephone, calculator, copier, fax, and other office equipment.

-Will be computer literate, particularly in all Microsoft office programs.

-Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.


Experience, Education: 

3-5 years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience in a leadership role. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
