SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of departmental workers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Schedule functional areas to achieve optimal usage on machines
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications. 
  • Direct setup and adjustment of machines 
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations. 
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties. 
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. 
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems. 
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. 
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. 
  • Perform administrative duties such as regular employee meetings, timekeeping/attendance/vacation requests, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, interviewing, training and development. 
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Completion of NTMA apprenticeship preferred but not required. 


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Machine Tool Technologies or equivalent work experience
  • 8-10 years of work-related experience
  • 3-5 years of trade school, vocational education, or four years of formal apprenticeship (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD&T 
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC programming. 
  • Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines. 
  • Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy in part making. 
  • Ability to speak basic English language. 
  • Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices.
