Job Title: Supervisor, Production

Reports To: Manager, Operations

Position Location: Charleston, SC

FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt):             FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt

 

Position Summary: 

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Record daily production output and ensures delivery of finished goods.
  • Develop and communicate production schedule to meet inventory needs eliminating customer back orders while maintaining desired inventory stock levels.
  • Record/Monitor weekly inventory percentages
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

 

Experience: 

  • 5 years of relevant experience; 2 years direct supervisory experience preferred

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • Ability to streamline work process/flows for maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to calculate production rates based on time studies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work process to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Ability to motivate team to achieve production requirements.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products, and the ability to use email.
  • Possess basic reading and mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressures, within deadlines or other time essential constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $60,000-75,000, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.
