Job Overview:

Materials Supervisor

 

Under the direction of the Logistics & Materials Manager, the Materials Supervisor plans, directs and coordinates activities relating to the materials department. Activities including safety, quality, productivity, and employee relations.

 

Performance Expectations

·        Supervises daily activities of the Materials department’s Team Lead & Material Handlers.

·        Utilizes ERP system which supports all material moves in the facility.

·        Plans, directs, and coordinates movement of material within the JIT manufacturing facility.

·        Oversee the warehousing and material handling functions.

·        Coordinates manpower requirements.

·        Schedules & coordinates inbound / outbound shipments.

·        Assists in managing material cycle counts and annual physical inventory reconciliation.

·        Leads process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, etc.

·        Trains employees on their job duties and responsibilities; cross trains as necessary.

·        Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.

·        Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards and safety rules are consistently adhered to.

·        Collaborates with the Department and HR Managers in administering disciplinary action, when necessary.

·        Maintains employees’ time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies.

·        Provides timely feedback on work performance and performance reviews.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

Credentials

·        High school diploma or equivalent

·        Minimum of two (2) years of materials supervisory experience or a minimum of five (5) years of materials team leadership experience

·        Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.

·        Ability to be forklift certified.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·        Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.

·        Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines.

·        Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MRP.

·        Knowledge of 5S, lean manufacturing or 6-Sigma principles preferred.

·        Ability to lead a team.

·        Ability to report information in context and at a level that allows decisions to be made.

·        Adaptation to changing priorities with high performance.

·        Self-motivated: energetic, likes to work at a fast pace

·        Result-oriented: Problem-solving orientation

·        Accountability: adheres to high professional standards for itself and others
