About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for our Superior, WI refinery. This position is responsible for leading the Quality Control Laboratory, overseeing a team of approximately 17 employees. As the Laboratory Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring consistent product quality across all refinery operations through strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Laboratory, establishing strategic direction and ensuring reliable and efficient laboratory operations.

  • Manages the Quality Control Laboratory, ensuring accurate test results are provided to internal and external customers according to a pre-established schedule, within the Laboratory’s operating budget, and utilizing safe laboratory practices.

  • Maintain the Statistical Process Control/Quality Assurance program in all sections of the laboratory. Ensure adherence to standards, methods and practices for all the analytical procedures in the Quality Control Laboratory.

  • Develop and maintain training programs to assure initial competency and ongoing proficiency for laboratory workers. Provides training and skill building on analytical standards, procedures, and practices, including equipment and technician/technical staff certification requirements.

  • Develop and manage annual budgets that support the provision of adequate operational and capital expenditures to achieve the Laboratory's objectives.

  • Allocate and balance lab resources. Develop and maintain staffing forecasts and ensure correct resourcing levels are adequate going forward.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

  • 7+ years of work experience.

  • Experience in oil refinery, chemical plant or environmental related technical experience working in or with a laboratory.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
