Job SummaryManages quality systems and day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance Department necessary to ensure production operations, quality assurance testing, and release product meet quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities· Responsible for compliance to the ISO 9001 Standard· Establishes work schedules of department supervisor and/or Manufacturing Technicians and administrative assistants to achieve quality and production goals and objectives.· Reviews and analyzes quality reports, customer issues and non-conformance dispositions to determine causes of non-conformity and operating concerns for remediation, and, in conjunction with Manufacturing Superintendents, implementation of appropriate corrective action.· Responsible for training, mentoring and discipline of department personnel both salary and hourly.· Ensures adherence to/compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, performance standards, operating procedures, processes, and training requirements.· Schedules and implements necessary employee training.· Reviews product quality and gives final approval of inspection results for in-process and finish inspection to authorize product to advance in production/shipment.· Assists with the coordination of manufacturing activities to ensure the quality of products meets specifications within the designated time frame. · Prepares data and cost-of-quality performance and supervises completion of action items.· Maintains policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Management/Supervisory Responsibilities· Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.· Directly supervises 1-10 employees, monitors work quality, including conducting performance appraisals and providing counseling for improved performance.

Requirements

  Education/Experience (all education/experience bullets are required unless noted as “preferred”)· BS/BA Degree preferably in metallurgy or material science engineering· 4-6 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in heavy manufacturing
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (all knowledge, skills and abilities are required unless noted as “preferred”)· Knowledge of the ISO 9001 Standard· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing· Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize projects· Ability to function in a team environment· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance· Independent judgement and decision making abilities· Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office products to organize and communicate· Proven leadership and motivational abilities· Strong analytical and problem solving skills· Knowledge of Ultrasonic (UT) testing procedures is preferred
