Essential Function:
• Provide overall construction management on multiple projects including design, budget
and schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager, Owners, Engineers and Architects
• Direct supervision of a group of field employees that will be assigned to self- perform
general construction work on multiple job sites. This group will include working foreman
and tradesmen.
• Schedule crew members to the individual job locations as required in close coordination
with PM for projects
• Assure proper Quality and Safety of work performed by crew members
• Visit projects in progress on a periodic basis to be kept abreast of performance and
adherence to quality and safety requirements of those employees.
• Exhibit close cooperation with other trade Superintendents in scheduling of manpower and
performance assessments, disciplinary actions & training.
• Exhibit and encourage teamwork to the benefit of the overall success of the company not
focused on an individual project above others.
• Exhibit close cooperation with Project Management department to achieve the project
goals of quality, safety, profitability and completion timeline.
• Mentoring & development of future leaders and team members
• Periodic performance reviews of group members. Document reviews and disciplinary
issues.
• Assistance in estimating, development of unit costs, for use in procuring additional work
(Production rates etc.)
• Become an expert in construction means and methods to serve as a guide to estimating
department and to implement the work in a safe and efficient way.
• Track self-performed labor actual performance to budgeted costs and provide feedback to
field crew. Assume responsibility for the labor budget pertaining to this trade.
• Business development: seek new opportunities, become an industry expert/leader in the
trade. Establish good working relationships with owners and owner’s representatives,
inspectors etc. for projects.
• Assume Project Superintendent duties on assigned projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years’ direct experience as superintendent on commercial projects greater
than $5 million
• Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions
of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders
• Plans work schedules and sets clear deadlines and assignments
• Connected to and forming positive relationships up, down and across firm
• Monitors performance, provides effective feedback and motivates staff
• Analyzes situations and makes decisions quickly and decisively
• Role model for other team members
• Influences team, department, and overall company in a positive way
