The High School Internship is designed in such a way to allow students to experience a “hands-on” approach to learning in various facets of the manufacturing industry. Students have the opportunity to learn in a modern production facility where they will be introduced to valuable knowledge in the industrial fields and forging industry. This program is intended for students interested in pursuing a career in the manufacturing field and gain technical skills. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment and inform Safety Director and Supervisor of any accidents or equipment damage that occurs. 
  • Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of accidents, provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions. 
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area. 
  • Act professionally and cooperate with others in a team setting.  
  • Engage in the use of quality tools 
  • Gain an understanding within a variety of fields; machining, inspection, metallurgy and more
  • Learn proper storage and housekeeping for plant layout 
  • Learn the stamp process and where work orders can be found 
  • Gain familiarization with non-conformance codes, the purpose of the NCR system and how to enter NCRs 
  • Calibrate tools and equipment 

Qualifications:  

  • High School Junior or Senior in “good standing” or recent High School graduate 16 -18 years old with a 2.5 GPA or better; Must be willing to provide transcripts and faculty/personal recommendations upon request. 
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and apply manufacturing and industry knowledge and think critically. 
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all personnel 
  • Basic computer skills, ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
