Job Overview:

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all sheet metal installation activities.   Ensures that sheet metal and system installation activities are timely and completed in accordance with established quality standards and procedures.  Develops and implements policies that ensure effective completion of area functions.   Coordinates closely with related departments to maintain schedules and effect necessary changes and revisions.   Assigns, trains, directs, and appraises sheet metal and installation personnel.  Ensure that safety regulations are closely adhered to.   Completes related documentation as required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that every person assigned to a job has the correct work instructions, tools, PPE and applicable references available and is familiar with what is required to complete the task.
  • Assure proper documentation for work performed by assigned employees, reflecting the status of the job
  • Directly oversee the work performed by any individuals who are unfamiliar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform any maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations
  • Verify qualifications of assigned employees to ensure only properly trained and qualified employees are assigned to each task
  • Assure accurate accomplishment of work by assigned employee
  • Assure work performed in accordance with all manuals, procedure, and data.
  • Review work performed by assigned technicians prior to submission to inspection for acceptance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct beginning of shift meetings to inform team members of any day-to-day issues
  • Provide an accurate and complete turnover to next shift lead and supervision for proper visit tracking
  • Work side by side with mechanics requiring training or mentoring.
  • Provide development of assigned technicians by providing OJT or mentoring as necessary for new or entry-level assigned technicians.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school education or equivalent
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant or FAA Airframe certificate.
  • Capable of interpreting drawings and blueprints to accomplish a specific task
  • Must understand and follow SRM, AMM, and IPC.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the aircraft.
  • Language (read, write, speak, and understand English).
  • Must provide own tools as indicated on company tool list.
  • Three to five years of experience leading people within maintenance/modification setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Additional related education and/or training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects. 

Medium work; able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

TRAVEL:  Travel is not expected for this position.
