Job Overview:

The Structural Welder at Vertiv is responsible for fabricating and assembling steel components used in the manufacturing of Vertiv’s critical infrastructure products. This role requires strong welding skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, attention to quality, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, and technical specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Perform MIG, Flux Core, and Stick welding on structural steel and fabricated components.
  • Fabricate, fit, align, and assemble steel components according to specifications and production requirements.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Operate welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Measure and verify dimensions and fit-up prior to and during welding.
  • Identify and correct welding defects or fabrication issues and communicate concerns to supervisors.
  • Work closely with fabrication, production, and assembly teams to meet quality and production schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all applicable safety procedures.
  • Follow proper PPE, lockout/tagout, material handling, and welding safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in structural welding, steel fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MIG, Flux Core, and Stick welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, and specifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of welding safety and safe operation of welding equipment.
  • Ability to inspect welds and maintain a high standard of workmanship and quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a production environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
  • Experience working from engineering drawings and weld symbols.
  • Experience with fit-up, layout, cutting, grinding, and metal preparation.
  • Forklift, overhead crane, or other material-handling experience.
  • Experience working in a safety-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with modular, prefabricated, industrial, or mission-critical infrastructure products.
