Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined
CNC Machine Operator
to join a busy structural steel fabrication operation in Gibsonton, FL. The Machine Operator will operate large CNC-controlled steel fabrication equipment used to cut, shape, and prepare heavy steel components for fabrication.
The primary equipment includes
CNC Burn Tables and CNC Plate Roll Machines. Operators will also use overhead cranes to safely move and position large steel plates and materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC-controlled steel fabrication machinery.
- Operate burn tables using plasma and/or oxy-fuel cutting systems.
- Load and position large steel plates onto cutting tables.
- Use overhead cranes to safely move and position heavy steel materials.
- Read and follow cut sheets, work orders, drawings, and production instructions.
- Verify steel grades, dimensions, and material requirements before processing.
- Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished pieces for proper dimensions, quality, and accuracy.
- Identify and report machine, material, or quality issues.
- Mark and identify completed steel components for traceability.
- Remove, organize, and stage finished pieces for the next stage of production.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA standards.
- Perform routine machine checks and basic troubleshooting.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, cranes, hot steel, sparks, and cutting operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating industrial machinery, CNC equipment, burn tables, plate rolls, or similar fabrication equipment preferred.
- Structural steel or metal fabrication experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, drawings, and measurements.
- Experience using an overhead crane is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work around large/heavy steel materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Must be safety-conscious and dependable.
- Willingness to learn and cross-train on multiple pieces of equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required.
- Ability to work around loud machinery, sparks, dust, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to safely work around and operate heavy machinery.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone with
machine operating, CNC, steel fabrication, welding, manufacturing, or heavy industrial experience
who is comfortable working around large equipment and heavy materials. Candidates with experience on
burn tables, plasma cutting equipment, plate rolls, overhead cranes, or similar machinery
are encouraged to apply.
This is a hands-on industrial position with opportunities to learn multiple machines and advance within structural steel fabrication.
