Structural Steel Fitter – Third Shift

We are looking for a Structural Steel Fitter to join our third-shift team!

Description

The Structural Steel Fitter will play a critical role in the production process by fitting, measuring, and assembling structural steel components before they move into the welding pits. Approximately 75% of the position will focus on fitting, with the remaining 25% spent performing production MIG welding to support the welding team and keep production on schedule.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, taking accurate measurements, cutting and preparing materials, and clamping and tack welding structural steel components together. Projects will involve assembling structural beams using webbing, connection plates, fitting clips, and two flanges.

Quality and accuracy are essential to this position. Proper measurements and assembly are critical to preventing defects, reducing rework, and maintaining an efficient production flow.

Requirements

• Must pass a 1G and 2G unlimited MIG weld test, including visual inspection and bend testing.

• Experience running .052 MIG wire with a 90/50 gas mixture or the ability to successfully weld under similar conditions.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Proficiency in reading a tape measure and converting decimal measurements to fractions.

• Experience fitting and assembling structural steel components.

• Ability to operate hand tools, grinders, and cutting torches safely and effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Ability to accurately measure, clamp, and tack weld components to meet specifications.

• Ability to work efficiently in a production environment and support the welding team as needed.
