Now Hiring: Structural Steel Fitter – 1st Shift

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter for a full-time opportunity in Lexington, SC. The ideal candidate will have structural steel fabrication experience, strong measurement skills, and the ability to read blueprints and fit steel components accurately.

Pay: $26–$28 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Location: Lexington, SC

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications

• Measure, align, and secure steel plates to beams and columns

• Fit and assemble structural steel components according to project specifications

• Perform MIG tack welding before final welding

• Grind, clean, and prepare steel components

• Assist with positioning and moving large steel components using overhead cranes

• Inspect assemblies for proper alignment, measurements, and accuracy

• Operate grinders, cutters, measuring tools, and other fabrication equipment

• Prepare completed assemblies for final welding

• Follow all workplace safety procedures and production standards

Requirements:

• Previous structural steel fitting or fabrication experience required

• MIG tack welding and structural steel assembly experience

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings

• Strong measurement, layout, and steel fitting skills

• Experience working with structural steel beams, columns, and plates

• Familiarity with overhead cranes and material handling

• Ability to operate grinders, cutters, and other fabrication tools

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must provide personal welding helmet, welding gloves, tape measure, and basic hand tools

• Steel-toe footwear and appropriate work clothing required

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing

• Reliable attendance and punctuality are required

• Must be at the workstation and ready to work at the scheduled start time

• No cell phone use during working hours

• Jeans or work pants and T-shirts are acceptable; sweatpants and joggers are not permitted
