Job Overview:

Strategic Metal Commodity Buyer

Help Power Production. Build Strong Supplier Partnerships. Make an Impact.

We’re looking for a Sheet Metal Commodity Buyer who will play a critical role in supporting our production schedule by ensuring purchased materials meet the right specifications, arrive on time, and deliver the best value for the business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into data, managing multiple suppliers, and driving continuous improvement across cost, quality, and delivery.

What You’ll Do

As our Sheet Metal Commodity Buyer, you’ll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of purchased commodities to support production needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Researching, evaluating, analyzing, and negotiating purchased commodities, including pricing, lead times, specifications, and quality
  • Managing multiple suppliers, parts, quantities, and lead times to meet production demand while maintaining open purchase orders
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent performance and continuous improvement
  • Effectively managing, analyzing, and negotiating price, on-time delivery, and quality with suppliers
  • Evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable options for the organization
  • Periodically auditing suppliers for quality, on-time delivery, and other supplier performance metrics
  • Communicating and reporting changes to contracts, supplier performance, issues, and risks to various audiences as required

Why This Role Matters

This position is essential to keeping our production running smoothly. Your ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery — while managing complex supplier relationships — will directly impact operational success and customer satisfaction.

If you’re detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy owning your work from negotiation through delivery, this role offers the chance to make a real, visible impact every day.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in procurement, ideally with sheet metal or fabricated components.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers.
  • Proven negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and strategic mindset.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and standard procurement tools.
  • Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • A collaborative, innovative, and supportive work environment.
  • The chance to influence key sourcing strategies and drive supply chain excellence.
